FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE [June 4, 2019 | Grand Junction, CO] – The Western Slope of Colorado is hosting the inaugural Techstars Startup Week this week, June 5 – 8, 2019.

It is a free, multi-day, “choose your own adventure” event for entrepreneurial minds, and a celebration of the #WestSlopeBestSlope way of doing business.

Most Startup Weeks happen in one city, but Techstars Startup Week West Slope is a regional effort with more than 50 sessions showcasing 90 speakers over four days in six locations across the Western Slope: Steamboat Springs, Hayden, Carbondale, Montrose, Vail and Grand Junction.

“It’s the largest startup event on the Western Slope, ever, and will be the biggest concentration of rural Colorado founders in one place in the history of the region,” said Marc Nager, with the Greater Colorado Venture Fund and West Slope Startup Week organizer. “People will remember this as one of the first large events to galvanize West Slope startup communities.”

Techstars Startup Week West Slope has six program tracks – Growth, Marketing & Communications, Capital, Makers & Producers, Business Toolbox and FUN! In line with the Startup Week model, the program was crafted by the community, for the community and is packed with panels, presentations, workshops, and social events.

Keynote speaker Brad Feld will kick off the regional portion on June 6 in Grand Junction at Colorado Mesa University. Feld, based in Boulder, Colo., has been a leader in the investment and entrepreneurial space for over 30 years. Backed by a long list of accomplishments, including managing director of the Foundry Group and co-founder of Techstars, he will set the stage for how to build a startup community. Feld will be joined by Delaney Keating, Managing Director of Startup Colorado, for a fireside chat Q&A.

“There are many hidden gems on the Western Slope,” says organizer Bryan Wachs with MySalesButler.com. “It’s time to share those with the rest of the state, and beyond.” To highlight these innovative companies and collaborative initiatives across the region, Campfire Content captured their stories, which are all hosted on the blog.

The goal of Techstars Startup Week West Slope is to bring the community together to share ideas, learn from each other, build momentum and opportunity, and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit, so it is an entirely free event that is accessible to all. This is made possible by the generous support from sponsors, most especially the Title Sponsor US Bank.

“US Bank has been an instrumental partner in making it all happen,” says organizer Mara Hardy with the Grand Junction Economic Partnership.

Other supporters include: Startup Colorado, Greater Colorado Venture Fund, Proximity Space, Grand Junction Economic Partnership, MySalesButler, Greenline Ventures, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado Lending Source, Venture Advocates, Downtown Grand Junction, Avalon Theater, Business Incubator Center, Campfire Content, FACTORY, ASAP Accounting & Payroll, Dev IQ, Four Points Funding, TJ Smith Design, and Kiln.

While the event is free, the organizers ask that attendees register to help give an accurate count for logistics planning.

Anyone interested in the event is encouraged to sign up to get email updates. Visit https://westslopestartupweek.com/ or email westslope@startupweek.co for more information.
