FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 6, 2017 | Grand Junction, CO) – The Grand Junction Downtown Development Authority is partnering with REgeneration Development to present initial concepts for the redevelopment of the R-5 Site and Lowell School Building (at North 7th St. and White Ave.) and the former White Hall Site (at North 6th St. and White Ave.). The project is currently proposed to be built in three phases, and will include ground-floor commercial space and approximately 100 residential units, with a diverse mix of for-rent apartments for-sale townhomes (some with detached studios), live-work lofts.

REgeneration Development and their local design team The Blythe Group (architects) and Nvision Design Studio (landscape architecture) have been working closely with the Grand Junction DDA to create development plans that are in alignment with the DDA’s vision for the area as articulated in the Greater Downtown Plan and the 2015 Downtown Housing Study. The redevelopment of the White Hall and R-5 sites will help increase downtown vibrancy by providing unique in-fill housing opportunities that don’t currently exist here but are popular in other communities and spurring further private investment in downtown Grand Junction.

The open house is part of a community-based approach to give community and neighborhood stakeholders an overview of the proposed development plan, which is based on “contextsensitive” design. This process engages communities to prepare for economic development and growth, while protecting important local values and ensuring that the project moves forward in a respectful way.

The entire development and design team will be at the open house in person to give a presentation and answer your questions. Participants will have the unique advantage of being among the first to see the latest development concepts, having the opportunity to give immediate feedback to the project team regarding the project, gaining a better understanding of the project goals and schedule, and learning how they can get involved to help make new housing options in downtown Grand Junction a reality.
