Business Beat Podcast: Mesa County and The CHIPS & Science ACT

This podcast originally aired live at KAFM Community Radio in April 2023

In 2022, the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) & Science Act was signed into legislation. This is part of an industrial strategy to revitalize domestic manufacturing, create good-paying American jobs, strengthen supply chains, and drive research and innovation.  As part of this act, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) is launching a competitive process to designate 20 Tech Hubs nationwide with $10 billion earmarked to help drive innovation.

Our state and local leaders have been hard at work putting Colorado on the map as one of these tech hubs. Colorado is globally competitive across a wide range of advanced industry sectors and is strategically positioned to excel as a Regional Technology and Innovation Hub

GJEP is proud to be part of these conversations and we look forward to working with leaders throughout the state to help put Colorado and Mesa County on the map. Check out the latest episode of Business Beat hosted by GJEP’s Curtis Englehart and Selena Sanchez as we discuss the potential impact of the CHIPS & Science Act on Western Colorado with Mesa County Commissioner Cody Davis and Jay Seaton, Publisher of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel and Economic Development Commission Board Member.
