Grand Junction, Colorado (May 1, 2024) —

Amazon announced plans to expand its investment in Colorado by opening a new delivery station in Grand Junction. This new 38,000-square-foot site is being constructed near the regional airport. Launch plans for this delivery station are in the early stages and construction is underway.  

“This last mile facility will allow us to better serve customers in Grand Junction and the surrounding area,” said Sam Bailey, manager of economic development policy in Colorado for Amazon. “We’re grateful for our partnership with the Grand Junction Economic Partnership. We look forward to sharing more details about this facility in the future.” 

The new last-mile facility, located at 800 Saccomanno Road in Grand Junction, will help power the last mile of Amazon’s fulfillment process by enabling fast, everyday delivery directly to customers’ doorsteps. Packages are transported to delivery stations from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers and then employees process customer packages for last-mile delivery. Most employees in customer fulfillment and transportation earn between $17 and $28 per hour.

Since 2010, Amazon has created more than 20,000 full- and part-time jobs in Colorado and invested more than $11.3 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation to our employees. These investments have contributed an additional $11 billion to Colorado’s economy and have helped create more than 33,000 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires—from jobs in construction and logistics to professional services. In addition, more than 8,500 independent sellers—most of which are small and medium-sized businesses—in Colorado are selling to customers in Amazon’s store, creating thousands of additional jobs across the state.  

Grand Junction City Council member Cody Kennedy of District A also helped announce the site to the community. “I’m excited to announce a very special Amazon delivery coming to Grand Junction,” Kennedy said. “This delivery, long referred to as ‘Project Roadmap’ by the Grand Junction Economic Partnership (GJEP), brings an Amazon facility to our city that will provide jobs while further solidifying our position as a regional hub for economic development. I’m thankful to GJEP for the work they have put in to make our community the first in western Colorado to welcome Amazon.”
