FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 13, 2018 | Grand Junction, CO) – The 2018 Western Colorado Economic Summit will take place on Wednesday, June 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the University Center at Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
The third annual event, hosted by the Grand Junction Economic Partnership (GJEP), promises to inspire and engage an anticipated audience upward 400 people. With the tag line “People, Purpose, Prosperity”, this year’s summit will focus on conscious capitalism and the “Fourth Sector” of the economy.
“The Fourth Sector refers to the intersection of nonprofit and for-profit industries,” said Robin Brown, GJEP executive director. “Our community has a strong culture of philanthropy and history of businesses supporting the nonprofit sector. Conscious capitalism is the next evolution, where philanthropic ideals are applied to for-profit business models to enhance economic prosperity and the welfare of a community.”
The luncheon keynote address will be given by Jonathan Liebert, CEO and executive director of the Colorado Institute for Social Impact and Better Business Bureau of Western Colorado. Liebert is a noted Leader in Colorado by the Beanstalk Foundation and a 2016 Rising Star Award recipient by the Colorado Springs Business Journal. His past work has been recognized nationally by The New York Times and Times magazine.
In addition to plenary sessions, several breakout sessions are planned for the event that will touch on some of the key priorities defined during the 2030 visioning session at last year’s economic summit and concerns voiced by the local business community: K-12 education, direct flights, technology, healthcare, and workforce development. The agenda is currently in production.
