FIRST WAVE OF JUMP-START COMPANIES APPROVED

Thursday, February 11, 2016 – The Colorado Economic Development Commission announced today that three companies have been approved to participate in the Rural Jump-Start Zone Tax Credit program, representing the first wave of businesses to expand or relocate in Mesa County as a result of the new “tax holiday”, which makes eligible businesses exempt from several state and county taxes for up to eight years. The companies – Colorado Clean, ProStar Geocorp™ and TSW Analytical – are projected to add 20 new jobs to the county in 2016. Read the full press release (PDF).

GOV. HICKENLOOPER NAMES MESA COUNTY FIRST “JUMP-START ZONE”

Friday, January 15, 2016 – It’s official! Yesterday, Gov. Hickenlooper pronounced Mesa County a “jump-start tax credit zone”, making it the first, and currently only, county to offer eligible new and expanding businesses this new tax incentive. Jump-Start offers businesses relief from Colorado state income and sales & use taxes; county and municipal personal property taxes; and state income taxes for their employees for up to eight years. In exchange, each businesses must create a minimum of five net new jobs in Mesa County and work in partnership with Colorado Mesa University.
