Grand Junction Regional Airport is publicly owned and operated. The facility
is classified by the Federal Aviation Administration as a Class
I airport under part 139 of the federal aviation regulations -
a Non-Hub Primary with
Jet Service. Grand Junction Regional Airport is the premiere facility
serving Western Colorado & Eastern Utah. GJT is a designated aviation
zone which means that any aircraft manufacturer located in the
zone may qualify for
a state income tax credit of $1,200 per new employee. This is an
incentive program (Colorado Aircraft Manufacturer New Employee
Credit) offered by
the Colorado
Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
With GJT's master planned expansion and more than
200 acres available for development, this is an exciting window
of opportunity for aviation related
businesses and commercial development. In addition to both private
and public passengers, the airport is a home delivery terminal
for FedEx and UPS cargo.
GJT has two active runways, runway 11/29 and runway 4/22. The primary runway
is 11/29, which is capable of handling commercial, military, and
general aviation aircraft. The crosswind runway is 4/22, which has been
designed
to accommodate any propeller aircraft. Runway 11/29 measures 10,501
feet long and 150 feet wide, with a northwest-southeast orientation. The
crosswind
runway 4/22 measures 5,501 feet long and 75 feet wide, with a southwest-northeast
orientation.
