Success Stories

The Grand Junction Economic Partnership is proud to feature local businesses who have found success in the Grand Valley.  Following are brief descriptions of their businesses and products and why they chose the Grand Valley.

Lewis Engineering

Lewis Engineering is a woman-owned minority small business established in 1981. They are AS 9100, ISO 9001, and ASQR01 certified and currently employ approximately fifty employees in their Grand Junction contract machine shop.

Lewis specializes in aerospace products, turbine engine components, rapid prototyping, and industrial pumps, but their capabilities are applicable to any industry that requires precision machined parts.

In late 2008 with the help of the Grand Junction Economic Partnership, Lewis Engineering announced the expansion of their operations.  GJEP provided information on real estate options, tax credits, economic impact analysis and also assisted with an application for State Job Creation Incentive funds, in addition to local incentives provided by the City of Grand Junction.  Lewis Engineering will provide a significant capital investment to the community, hire new employees and work toward goals outlined in their business plan, including an anticipated annual growth rate of approximately 10%.

The Grand Junction Economic Partnership worked with the local community as well as the State of Colorado to facilitate the relocation of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to Grand Junction, Colorado.  The CBI facility contains some of the most advanced technological resources found anywhere in the country.  It houses advanced telecommunications and security systems, a wide array of investigative tools, and a state of the art forensic laboratory.

This project was truly a prime example of of the incomparable opportunity and results of a team dynamic.  The clear, efficient arrangement of functions created a building that supports staff productivity, enhances the quality of life of CBI employees, and provides a facility from which the Colorado Bureau of Investigations will continue to improve the quality of life for their employees, the community of Grand Junction and the entire Western Slope region.
